My siblings and I have started to take more trips together in the last few years. We always have so much fun together! One thing that I have noticed is that no matter where we go, we get asked, "Where are you from?" After replying that we are from Kentucky we are told, "I just love your accent!" Most recently some of the places I have been to are Tennessee, Florida, New York City, and Michigan. We always get told that we have such southern accents. I admit that I do have a very southern, country way of speaking. In the collage above you see some very southern sayings and I am guilty of saying them all. Do you ever get asked where you are from based on your accent? Do you use any of the above sayings?

People immediately pick out that I'm a Southern Californian. Never fails. I apparently have a "way about me." I also say things like gnarly, rad, and woah bro, but still!
ReplyDeleteOh, well. Accents add flavor and character to a person!
ReplyDeletethis is too sweet - i love the coupling of phrases. i've lived in phoenix, new orleans, chicago and minneapolis, but i don't think i've picked up much besides saying yall :)

I don't really have an accent although every now and then I will say something and it will come out with a Boston accent. I guess since I lived there for 18 years, I am lucky that it's not worse.
ReplyDeleteHAHA I live in New Orleans, but I always get "Where are you from? Because you don't sound like you're from here" HAHAHA Maybe because I lived in Florida for awhile. I don't have a southern accent unless I fake it. LOL

I'm from the UK and haven't heard of any of those sayings! I love hearing different accents although I'm terrible at guessing where people are from. x
ReplyDeleteYes, I am from Bulgaria and my accent is really... bulgarian :D Once in Vienna I got asked about 3 times if I am a Bulgarian. I was amazed. How did they know? And they told me it's because of my accent, lol. But I'm interested to hear yours:)

Very sweet. My accent is now distorted. I used to have an American accent ( A Michigan one) but, now that I live in the Uk, it's more Scottish mixed with American, haha. It varies pending on who I'm talking to. I can put on different accents now as well. It's quite fun :))) xx
