Splurge vs. Steal

Earlier today we had a #stylishforless post. You should definitely check it out, especially if you are in need of some beautiful statement necklaces. I thought I would follow up Tracy's stylish for less post with a splurge vs. steal post. Sometimes it is best to go ahead and make the splurge when you are looking for closet staples that will need to last for seasons, but at other times I just can't justify making the splurge and I have to look for a steal.
For our first splurge vs. steal we have overalls. These are supposed to be a huge trend for this summer. What are your thoughts on overalls? While I think these are cute, when I think about overalls I can't help but think about the hideous olive green pair my parents made me wear as a kid. Then we have leather shorts. Leather is very on trend for spring and summer and what is more summery than shorts? How do you feel about leather shorts?

    I like both trends and have both pieces as well. I thrifted my overalls for $10 and got my leather shorts on clearance at Target. I think classic pieces should be splurged on while the trendy pieces you save your money. :-)

    I also had a pair of olive green overalls as a kid...they were a corduroy nightmare. I don't think I am in to either trend. I don't think I am rock star enough to wear leather shorts.

    I like the steal a lot better on both of these, especially since they are not things I would wear a lot to make the money worth it.

    While I don't have much interest in the overalls trend, I've been hunting for a pair of faux-leather shorts that I'd love, to cement the fact that I'm a crazy lady with too much leather in her closet. I actually really like the steal better for the leather shorts, though they're both pretty nice!
