At first I was shocked at the popularity of peplums. I questioned why any woman would want an extra layer of fabric extending from her hips. After seeing numerous lovely ladies wearing this Spring trend I have realized that this look can be flattering on many body types. It gives boyish figures a slightly curvy look. It helps define the waist and makes it the focal point thereby giving more curvy girls a bombshell effect. By accentuating the waist and flaring over the hips peplums create the illusion of symmetrical hips and shoulders.
I would love to know your thoughts on wearing peplums this season.
I like the idea of the peplum but I am totally unconvinced that I can actually pull it off!

Oh dear. I'm afraid I must confess that I thought Peplum was the designer's name. I'm hanging my head in shame, but before I go I have to tell you that the skirts (dresses?) are gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteI love peplums :)
ReplyDeleteI love peplums - they are so sophisticated and flattering. I don't have any yet and am on the hunt for the perfect peplum dress in time for an April wedding I'm going to.

ReplyDeletei love love peplum's!! they're such a throwback.. everything screams mad men a time when woman dressed like woman and men dressed like men!!
ReplyDeleteI think on the runway or on that typical skinny chick that trend looks nice. But with my hips it wouldn't work;) It's just too much for curvy girls, they should you for a pencil skirt which gives them a sexy look without adding more material. Nice Post and interesting thoughts!

Peplums are such a fun trend right now! I personally don't have any skirts or dresses featuring that design, but I'm hunting for one.

Oh I want a peplum skirt so bad! I think if you have a thin frame and broad shoulder s, a skirt like this can do wonders! But in general, it looks amazing on a female shape either way.
